"Be Gentle with Yourself."

This mixed media watercolor illustration is one of the 12 artwork I created after participating in a 10-day silent meditation retreat in the summer of 2016. I felt so centered and peaceful when I came home, I decided to create a series of artwork to remind myself of those blissful feelings. Then I figured other people can benefit from the reminder, too!

It's not always easy to have peace and compassion when so many of our lives are surrounded by fear and violence, and a little encouragement to stay grounded couldn't hurt, right?

Set an intention to nurture peace and compassion for yourself and people around you every day with this encouraging art <3 And if you're not compassionate with yourself first, you won't be able to practice compassion with others :)

I painted vintage-inspired tea cups and pots in vibrant watercolor and gouache (an opaque watercolor), and added my handwritten message with fine felt-tipped pen.
